Dr Andre Raats – Medical Director – Obtainedhis MBCHB in 1987 from the University of Pretoria. He worked as a family Practitioner until 2003, when he joined the team at Crescent Clinic and has been the Medical Director for the past six years. Dr Raats manages the medical well-being of patient's during the rehabilitation programme and has developed a special interest in detoxification regimes as well as dual diagnosis pathology in conjunction with referring Psychiatrists.

Dr Lizbe Vos – Since registration in 1985 with the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist Dr. Vos has practiced in a variety of contexts gaining experience respectively as a therapist, trainer and lecturer. In 1993/4 she did post-graduate training in General Systems Theory at the Tavistock Clinic in Londonafter which she returned to South Africa to take up a position as a Senior Psychologist at Riverfield Lodge,(Chemical Dependency RehabilitationCentre) in Johannesburg. In 1999 she was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at UJ (then RAU) where she was a member of the team responsible for the training of post graduate psychology students. At this time she also had a part time private practice at Park Lane Clinic specializing in post natal depression, addiction and relationship issues (individuals, couples and families). She joined the Crescent Clinic CDU in September 2005. She works with both in-patients and out-patients.

Dr Neil Gibbon – Is a Clinical Psychologist with over 15years’ experience. He specializes in the mental healthtreatment of adolescents and young adults, with a particular interest in addiction and recovery. He trained inNorthern Ireland following which he worked in the National Health Service inNorthern Ireland and London. He now works in private practice and consults to the Chemical Dependence Unit at Crescent Clinic.

Chandre Taylor – Is a Senior Registered Nurse (Psychiatric, Midwifery, Community and General), she has Psychiatric experience ofover twenty years. She has worked at Crescent Clinic since 1998.  Chandre has worked in the Chemical Dependency Unit for over ten years.

Abeda Salie – Abeda is the CDU Co-Ordinator. She has completed her diploma in addictions counselling and has many years of practical experience in programme co-ordination and management. 

Imraan Muscat – BSocSci Swk (Hons) UCT.  Imraan is a Clinical Social Worker with over 10 Years Personal Recovery. Through the use of Motivational Interviewing, the 12 Step Programme and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, he offers a healthy way out of the cycle of substance abuse. He enhances coping skills and life management. Working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as a Clinical Director at treatment centres, he has vast experience in the field of substance abuse. Imraan was clinically trained at the University of Cape Town and combines clinical experience and personal recovery; He offers a holistic recovery plan for substance users as well as family members.

Deborah Nash - Qualified at Stellenbosch University as an Occupational Therapist registered with the HPCSA, Deborah has worked in the area of Psychiatry specializing in General Psychiatry, Addiction and Eating Disorders, and works with individuals, groups and families.

Deborah stared her career with the Life Care Hospital Group, working with long term Psychiatry and program development. From there she moved to Avalon Treatment Centre for Substance abuse disorders.

In 1988 Deborah was appointed as Senior Lecturer at UCT, for the Department of Occupational Therapy.

In 1992 she opened a private practice in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town and spent 15 years working in acute Psychiatry and program development.

During the years of 2007 - 2011, she set up, established and managed three treatment facilities as Clinical Director, for Substance abuse, Eating disorders and extended care two in South Africa and one in London, for the Montrose Group.

Deborah now works in private practice from Crescent Clinic private and consults to the Chemical Dependency unit.

Julie Gurnell - is a HPCSA registered Art Psychotherapist with over 10 years experience working in mental health in the UK’s NHS with children, adolescents and adults in community and in-patient settings. Since qualifying in art therapy Julie has further specialized in working with trauma of a developmental and attachment nature (neuroscience based) which she has found integrates well with her art therapy practice.  Following returning to South Africa her focus has shifted to include working with adolescents and adults in recovery, NPO’s and the elderly.  Julie’s private practice is in Wynberg where she welcomes referrals where an integrative art therapy or trauma therapy intervention is sought to assist the process of healing and personal development.
